A tape sample bound for an Indonesian plant travels either by courier or consolidated with an LCL booking out of Shenzhen, and which one applies is settled when the request is reviewed, not by a rule printed on a website. Why sample terms get harder here

Indonesia concentrates assembly in industrial estates that are not all served the same way. Bekasi, Cikarang and Karawang take a mainland logistics chain through Tanjung Priok, Surabaya-side plants work through Tanjung Perak, and Batam sits on a different transhipment pattern again. A sample policy has to answer for all three, because the distance between a courier hand-off at a Jakarta tower and a roll collected from a forwarder in Gresik is not a distance an adhesive cares about, but it is a delay your qualification schedule feels.

Three specific frictions come up repeatedly. A humid sea leg affects liner flatness and carton condition before the material is ever opened, so the packing decision belongs in the sample plan. Testing conditions at goods-in differ from your lab conditions, and a pull test run in a 31 °C receiving bay is not the test you agreed. And import obligations, including SNI conformity and import licensing where a product category requires them, are handled by the importer; we supply material documents for the selected grade and state plainly what we can and cannot confirm.

Ports, hubs and the transit ranges we quote against

Sea freight from Shenzhen to Tanjung Priok or Tanjung Perak is stated on the Indonesia market page as 7–12 days port to port, with express listed at 3–6 working days door to door; the actual date for your order is set at quotation against the destination port or address. Smaller orders can be consolidated as LCL, and the market page names LCL to Tanjung Priok as an option. Incoterms we work on are EXW, FOB Shenzhen, CIF or DDP by agreement.

One discipline matters here. We do not convert a published transit range into an arrival promise for a sample, because a sample moves as either a courier waybill or a piece of a larger booking, and those two have different clocks.

The five things we review on an Indonesian sample request

One: the tier, and the single question it must answer. A stock or slit roll settles wet-out and handling; a custom width settles edge, tension and winding; a die-cut first article settles release, matrix state and placement at the station. Two: grade availability and lot continuity, meaning whether the material we send can be tied to an incoming batch, adhesive batch and slitting date that a follow-on order can actually reach. Three: format and packing for the leg, including core, liner, carton grade and how the parcel is stored between receiving and the test bench. Four: document scope for the ordered grade, with TDS, MSDS, RoHS and REACH statements and a first-article report issued against what you buy, plus a written note on what belongs to the importer. Delivery and document flow

The enquiry goes in with the application, the substrate and finish, the destination city or port, the tier you want and the tests you plan to run. We come back with a written sample plan: what is supplied, which lot reference will travel on the parcel, the charge and freight arrangement, and the date the material can leave the plant once material availability, tooling and cutting route are checked. Dispatch follows either as a courier waybill or consolidated with a larger booking, and the document pack is issued against the grade in the parcel rather than a catalogue entry. When the evaluation comes back, the same references carry into the first-order quotation, so nothing has to be re-litigated.
