Masking, cloth, duct and MOPP tapes for painting, protection, bundling and carton sealing. Clean removal, consistent unwind and reliable adhesion for industrial and export packaging.
Typical build-up for this product family. Layer order, carrier and thickness vary by grade.
| Layer | Typical material |
|---|---|
| Release coating | Easy-release treatment |
| Backing | Crepe paper · cloth · MOPP film |
| Adhesive | Rubber or acrylic |
| Release liner | Not applicable for most masking tapes |
Crepe paper tape for painting, masking and temporary protection. Clean removal and conformability.
High-strength cloth tape for bundling, sealing, protection and repair.
Biaxially oriented polypropylene tape for carton sealing, with low noise and good clarity options.
Transparent polypropylene sealing tape for export cartons and retail cases, with acrylic or hot-melt rubber adhesive; quiet unwind grades are available for high-speed closers.
Fiberglass-loaded tape for heavy carton closure, bundling and strapping-adjacent work, where the reinforcement carries the tensile load instead of the film.
High-temperature, UV-resistant or low-residue grades for automotive and construction.
Values are typical and grade dependent. Confirm the final specification on the TDS for your selected product.
A family is not a product. These are the questions that narrow it down to one construction, in the order we ask them.
A paint line that cures above the tape rating lifts the edge and leaves residue in the part. The masking window is defined by the cure profile, not by the colour of the paper.
UV exposure and dwell turn a clean-removal masking tape into a strip that breaks. Outdoor masking and multi-day holds need a stated stripping window.
Fresh paint, cured paint, galvanised steel, glass and powder coat each release differently. Fine-line edges on soft, freshly applied coats are the usual failure point.
Recycled board, dusty board and humid board all reduce tack. An export seal is chosen for the board and the transit environment, not only for the price per roll.
Machine-applied tape on a carton sealer needs the right unwind direction, core and tension; hand-applied masking needs conformability and edge tear resistance.
Printed branding, handling symbols and barcodes change the material choice, the artwork process and the order minimum.
| Construction | Usual reason to choose it | What to check first |
|---|---|---|
| Standard crepe masking | General paint masking, bundling and temporary hold on smooth surfaces. | Outdoor dwell and UV resistance; residue after baking. |
| Fine-line tape | Sharp paint edges and two-tone work on automotive and industrial finishes. | Whether the edge breaks when pulled from a warm or fresh coat. |
| High-temperature masking | Powder coat and cure ovens above the range of ordinary crepe grades. | Peak temperature plus time above it, and the release behaviour afterwards. |
| Cloth and duct tape | Bundling, repair, sealing and protection where tensile strength matters. | Adhesive bleed and residue on the surface it is removed from. |
| MOPP packaging tape | Carton sealing on manual and automatic dispensers, plain or printed. | Board type, humidity, unwind noise and dispenser tension. |
| Filament and strapping-reinforced tape | Heavy cartons, pallet unitising and closure that carries load. | How the joint is loaded and whether the board can take the tension. |
| Clear BOPP carton-sealing tape | The everyday export carton closure: plain or printed, acrylic or hot-melt rubber, on hand dispensers or automatic closers. | Board porosity and humidity at the destination, plus unwind noise and dispenser tension if the line is automated. |
Every row is a starting point for a test, not a promise about your joint. The third column is the part that usually decides the outcome.
These are the items a quotation has to settle before material is cut. Each one is confirmed against your order, so no figure on this page is a standing commitment.
| Specification item | What we confirm |
|---|---|
| Grade and colour | Backing, adhesive, thickness and colour; colour matters on a production line where operators sort rolls by eye. |
| Stripping window | The bake or UV exposure the tape has to survive and the removal condition you will actually use. |
| Width, length and core | Slit width, metres per roll and the core your dispenser, applicator or gun takes. |
| Unwind direction | Handle or tail out, printed side in or out; wrong direction is the most common cause of a machine jam on a packaging line. |
| Artwork format, number of colours, repeat length and colour standard for printed packaging tape. | |
| Roll count and packing | Rolls per carton and cartons per pallet, matched to your storage and dispensing points rather than to a default box. |
| Consistency | Whether successive rolls come from the same incoming batch, which matters for colour and for release behaviour. |
| MOQ and timing | Sample rolls are available for line trials. Printed and private-label runs carry their own minimum, confirmed at quotation with the artwork steps. |
| What gets verified | How it is measured |
|---|---|
| Bake and strip | Masked, baked at your profile, then stripped and inspected for residue, edge break and lifting. |
| UV and outdoor dwell | Exposed on the real substrate for the stated window, then removed and scored. |
| Seal integrity on your board | Applied to your recycled board and stored at humidity before the closure is tested. |
| Print quality | Checked against the approved proof for colour, registration and barcode readability on the production run. |
Ask for the method and the condition, not only the number: the same material reads differently on a clean test panel and on a part from your line.
Freight term, routing and destination charges are stated on the quotation. The technical guides and the logistics notes explain how each line is derived.
