Easy-release, heat-reactive, low-VOC, medical IVD and laser-through glass tapes for applications where a standard double-sided tape is not enough.
Typical build-up for this product family. Layer order, carrier and thickness vary by grade.
| Layer | Typical material |
|---|---|
| Release liner | Application-specific |
| Adhesive | Specialty acrylic, rubber or silicone |
| Carrier | PET · film · paper · specialty substrate |
| Functional layer | Low-VOC, heat-reactive, hydrophilic or laser-responsive |
Clean removal for temporary protection, electronics and battery disassembly.
Bonding activated by heat for specific assembly processes.
Low fogging and low odour for automotive interiors and enclosed devices.
Precision tape for blood glucose test strips and microfluidic devices; stable thickness and clean die-cutting.
Durable glass marking for automotive safety and identification labels.
Grit- or mineral-coated backing for stair nosings, ramps, ladders, walkways and vehicle steps, where the tape has to stay bonded outdoors and still be cleaned off at end of life.
Mushroom-head polyethylene fastener tape — the dual-lock style line — that replaces a screw or a clip where a part must open and close repeatedly: access panels, mounts, housings and reusable fixtures. Supplied as hook-side and loop-side pairs, whole rolls or die-cut pieces.
Values are typical and grade dependent. Confirm the final specification on the TDS for your selected product.
A family is not a product. These are the questions that narrow it down to one construction, in the order we ask them.
Clean release, heat activation, low outgassing, thickness stability or a laser-reactive surface. One property decides the grade; the rest are constraints.
A heat station, a cure oven, a sterilisation step or a laser setting each change what the adhesive can be.
Medical, battery and automotive programs are bought on documents. The grade is shortlisted with the paperwork that has to accompany it.
In IVD strips and microfluidics, thickness variation and a frayed edge are functional failures, not cosmetic ones.
Adhesive and carrier must not extract into, absorb from, or react with what the device carries.
Small, precise parts need liners, sheet counts and pick methods that keep them clean and oriented through assembly.
| Construction | Usual reason to choose it | What to check first |
|---|---|---|
| Easy-release and repositionable tape | Holds during assembly, removes cleanly later in battery, electronics and protection work. | Dwell time before removal, surface condition and residue after aging. |
| Heat-reactive (heat-activated) tape | Inactive at room temperature, bonded with heat and pressure for automated placement. | Activation temperature, dwell, and the fixture that delivers pressure. |
| Low-VOC and low-fogging tape | Enclosed automotive and electronic assemblies where emissions are measured. | Which OEM test the grade was run against and at what condition. |
| Medical IVD mid-separator tape | Test strips and microfluidic devices needing stable thickness and clean edges. | Thickness band, edge quality, and compatibility with the assay. |
| Laser-through glass marking tape | Durable identification on automotive glass and harsh-environment labelling. | Laser setting, adhesion after marking, and the residue the process leaves. |
| Custom laminated constructions | When the required property is a combination no single grade provides. | Layer order, total thickness and the failure mode you are protecting against. |
| Non-slip safety tape | Stair nosings, ramps, ladders, walkways and vehicle steps, where the surface has to stay grippy after weather and cleaning. | The substrate it bonds to, whether the joint will be pressure-washed, and how the old strip is removed without leaving residue. |
| Reclosable interlocking fastener tape | Mushroom-head hook and loop pairs where a part must open and close repeatedly and still carry shear — the dual-lock style line. | Whether the faces stay clean in service, the peel direction your user applies, and the release you want at end of life. |
Every row is a starting point for a test, not a promise about your joint. The third column is the part that usually decides the outcome.
These are the items a quotation has to settle before material is cut. Each one is confirmed against your order, so no figure on this page is a standing commitment.
| Specification item | What we confirm |
|---|---|
| The functional requirement | The one property that must hold, stated as a test or a process condition rather than as a product name. |
| Thickness and tolerance | The band the construction has to sit in, and how it is measured on incoming material. |
| Documentation set | Which data sheet, compliance statement, batch record or qualification document the program requires. |
| Format and presentation | Roll, slit roll, pre-cut piece or die-cut part on liner, with sheet count and pick orientation. |
| Cleanliness and handling | Whether parts need covered liners, glove handling, sealed bags or a dedicated packing line. |
| Batch control | Same-batch supply across an order, lot coding, retention of the records and how a change of batch is notified. |
| Change control | Anything that would alter the construction, adhesive source or process is flagged and re-approved before it ships. |
| MOQ and timing | Samples for evaluation are available; program quantities, documentation steps and dates are confirmed at quotation. |
| What gets verified | How it is measured |
|---|---|
| Thickness and edge quality | Measured on the supplied construction, because a specialty tape is bought against a band and a clean cut edge. |
| Release or activation behaviour | Tested under the process condition it will see, not at room temperature on a bench. |
| Compatibility | Checked against the fluid, coating or assay in the customer evaluation, which is where the real acceptance decision lives. |
| Batch consistency | Compared against the retained sample and the approved record on each incoming batch of the material and each outgoing run. |
Ask for the method and the condition, not only the number: the same material reads differently on a clean test panel and on a part from your line.
Freight term, routing and destination charges are stated on the quotation. The technical guides and the logistics notes explain how each line is derived.
