The problem
Why this application is difficult
In a test strip or microfluidic device, the tape is part of the measurement. Thickness variation changes channel height, adhesive flow can contaminate an assay, and a rough die-cut edge can affect capillary behaviour. A general-purpose double-sided tape is rarely the right answer.

We start with the device function: channel height, bonding area, fluid contact, sterilization and shelf life. The tape is selected around those requirements.
Thickness and edge control
For IVD mid-separator applications we review carrier thickness, adhesive layer and die-cutting route. The achievable tolerance depends on the construction and is confirmed on the drawing.
Material compatibility
We discuss the available medical assembly constructions and the documentation for each grade. Final biocompatibility and assay validation remain with the device manufacturer.

Yes, within the capability of the construction. We review carrier, adhesive and liner, and control thickness and edge quality during die-cutting. The achievable tolerance is confirmed at drawing review.
