Reference identified
Carrier, adhesive chemistry, thickness, liner and code recorded from your datasheet or sample.
You already have a grade number on a drawing or in an ERP item. This page explains what we do with it: identify the construction, quote either the original material or a construction from our own range, and prove the match on your surfaces before anything changes in your approval file.

A brand code describes a manufactured construction and the process behind it. The datasheet belongs to the manufacturer, and the performance it describes is only reproducible under the conditions that manufacturer tested. Publishing a table that says "our tape equals their grade" would move the risk from the paper to your production line.
So the cross-reference work happens in the open, in four visible parts: what the reference is, what your joint needs, which route we quote, and what was tested. Every quotation names the brand, the grade, the construction and any converting step we add, so your approval file and your batch documents describe the same material.

Original brand grade, our own construction, or the original material converted here.
Tested on your substrate, your cleaning method and your test standard, not on a catalogue.
A passed match is added to the grade library with its date and tested construction.
Five steps, in this order. Skipping the first two is where a substitution normally fails.
We start from the datasheet, the part you are buying or the print that calls the grade. Carrier type, adhesive chemistry, thickness, liner and the manufacturer code are recorded before anything is proposed. Nothing is matched from the brand name alone.
A grade number tells us the manufacturer, not the joint. We look at the bond line, the two substrates, the temperature profile, whether the bond must hold in shear or resist peel, and whether the tape stays in the product or is removed after a process.
Three routes are possible: supply the original brand grade through our channel, supply a construction from our own range, or supply the original material and convert it here. We state which route a quotation uses so your approval file is accurate.
Samples are supplied for your own substrate, your own cleaning method and your own process. A cross-reference without a test on the real surface is a guess, so we ask for the test standard you have to meet and the failure mode you cannot accept.
When a match passes your validation it is added to the grade library with the date, the tested construction and the report reference. Entries that have not been tested stay marked as untested, so nobody reads a possibility as a result.
The families are ours, so the descriptions are ours. The reference handling column tells you what we ask for before a grade is proposed.
| Our family | Where it is used | How a branded reference is handled |
|---|---|---|
| Double-Sided Tape | Thin bond lines on displays, FPCs, battery modules, nameplates and trim, where a carrier or transfer adhesive is specified. | Buyers usually arrive with a tesa or 3M double-sided code. We identify the carrier, adhesive chemistry and thickness from your datasheet, then quote the original grade or a construction from our range. |
| Foam Tape | Panel, trim, frame, glazing and sign bonding where gap, texture and outdoor exposure rule out a thin tape. | Commonly referenced as an acrylic foam or VHB-style grade. We confirm foam core, thickness and skin, then test on your coated surface before recommending a substitution. |
| Functional Tape | Insulation, protection, grounding, flame-retardant and heat-resisting roles in electronics, battery and automotive builds. | These are the grades where a number carries the most meaning. We work from the property you need (dielectric, temperature, flammability, release behaviour) and match against documented data, not a catalogue name. |
| Masking & Packaging Tape | Paint, plating and anodising masking, clean removal windows, carton sealing and bundling. | Masking grades fail by residue or bleed, not by adhesion. We match the bake window and the coating system, and confirm removal behaviour on your line. |
| Die-Cut Parts | Ready-to-install pieces cut from any of the above, on the liner and presentation your line or applicator needs. | A converted part is matched by drawing and process, so the reference grade matters less than the tolerance, the kiss-cut depth and the liner release after ageing. |
| Specialty Tape | Medical, IVD, laboratory, high-temperature and low-VOC constructions with restricted material requirements. | Specialty grades need document review before any trial. We confirm the material claim you have to support and what evidence we can provide for the supplied grade. |
Product family pages carry the constructions, thickness ranges and documents available for each family.
Authorization scope changes by product family, customer type and country. These pages state the position and what to verify before a tender.
Xiangyu Tape is a tesa Platinum Partner — certificate tesaGC AD000437, valid to 2027-03-31. This page explains which tesa families we supply, how authorization works and what to verify before a tender.

Supply and authorization scopeWith all six we can usually name a route and a test plan in the first reply. With only a grade number we can still start, but the first reply will be a question.
We tell you which route the quotation uses and what has to be tested before your approval changes.
