The problem

Why this application is difficult

Electronic assemblies combine small bond lines, tight tolerances and processes that can damage the wrong surface. Masking tape that leaves residue, light-blocking tape with a pinhole, or a die-cut part with a rough edge can create scrap far downstream. The material, liner and cutting route have to work together.

Our approach

What we review before proposing a material

Process-first material selection

We start with the process: anodizing bath, plating line, solder reflow, display assembly or FPC bonding. Temperature, chemistry and masking duration decide the construction.

Light-blocking performance

For display and sensor areas we review the required opacity, thickness and edge condition. A construction can be light-blocking in the middle and still leak at a die-cut edge if the cut is not clean.

Clean removal and residue

Where tape is removed after processing, we select the adhesive and dwell time to reduce residue and tearing. A trial on your surface is the only reliable check.

Die-cutting and feeding

Parts are cut to the drawing with the liner and presentation your feeder needs. We inspect dimensions, edge quality and liner condition before packing.

FAQ

What makes a tape light-blocking?
The carrier and adhesive must prevent light transmission, and the die-cut edge must be clean. We review the required opacity, wavelength and part geometry before proposing a construction.
Can you die-cut a very thin part?
Yes, within the capability of the material and shape. Very thin or narrow parts need a liner and cutting route that keep the part stable during feeding; we confirm at drawing review.
Do you offer low-VOC tape?
Low-VOC and low-fogging grades are available. The final choice depends on the substrate, temperature and the OEM requirement. Share the test method so we can confirm the available data.
