Two resource pages that exist because buyers kept asking the same questions: a glossary of the terms our quotations and reports use, and a document library that lists what we can issue per grade instead of promising a generic pack.

The glossary

Adhesive chemistry terms, test methods and converting vocabulary, written for the person who has to defend a choice internally. Each entry states what the term means in practice and which standard defines the number.

The document library

TDS, MSDS, RoHS and REACH statements, the ISO 9001 certificate, first-article reports for converted parts, capability profiles and packing specifications. Documents are requested per grade and per market, because a statement that covers one construction does not cover another.

Why the glossary exists

The terms most often misread in a comparison

Three examples of where two suppliers appear to disagree and are actually describing different tests.

TermHow it gets used looselyWhat to ask instead
PeelQuoted as one number for a tapeWhich angle, which substrate, which age and which standard method produced it
TackPresented as a single quick-stick valueBall tack, probe tack or loop tack, because the three do not rank the same tape the same way
ThicknessGiven for the adhesive in one row and the construction in the nextTotal thickness with liner, and whether the figure is nominal or a tolerance band
Temperature rangeUsed as both storage and serviceWhich one, sustained or peak, and against which substrate
RemovalDescribed as clean without a time limitThe removal window: one hour, one day, one week, after which cure changes everything

What the document library is for

A supplier can be entirely honest and still send the wrong paper: a statement written for a family when you are buying one grade inside it, or a certificate whose scope does not name the site that made your part. The library exists to make the request specific.

  • Documents are issued per grade and per market, because a construction-level statement does not travel across a family
  • A first-article report belongs to a drawing version, so the version has to be stated on the document
  • An ISO 9001 certificate is only as useful as its current scope, which names the site and the activity
  • A brand authorization can be genuine and still not cover your product family or country
  • If a document is a condition of your approval, ask for it at enquiry stage rather than after a design is committed

About these two resource pages

Is the glossary only for buyers?
No, but it is written for the buyer who has to defend a choice internally. Each entry states what the term means in practice and which standard defines the number, which is also what an engineer needs when a comparison falls apart.
Can I download the documents directly?
They are requested rather than published, because a document names a grade, a batch and sometimes a customer. Tell us the grade, the application and the destination and we send the version that applies.
Do the glossary entries cover test methods we are not using here?
The methods named are the ones that appear in our quotations and reports. If your specification uses a different standard, say so and we will state results against yours rather than translating our own.
