Foam Tape Supplier FAQ: Gap Bridging, Cold and Creep
Ten questions for a foam tape supplier on gap bridging, cold application, outgassing, telegraphing, moisture and…

Twelve questions about the export packaging specification for tape rolls, answered as fields to settle before an order rather than as assurances after it. Carton test values and dimensional tolerances belong to the standard a buyer selects and to the board maker's declaration, so they are verified on an order rather than quoted on a page.
The count is derived rather than chosen, following the roll's outside diameter and face width against the carton's inner dimensions, then capped by the maximum gross weight your handlers will lift. A width or length change moves it again, which is why the number is printed per size rather than remembered.
Inner diameter is declared against the equipment that will hold the roll, most often one inch for hand dispensers and three inches for applicator and production formats, and never inferred from a product photograph. A roll delivered on the wrong core is scrap, not a return.
Spiral paper suits ordinary converted rolls, while rigid plastic or metal is specified where stack load, core crush or moisture makes paper unsuitable in the store and on the lane you use. Describe the environment the rolls sit in and the tube choice follows from it.
The web must unwind the way your station feeds it, meaning outside or inside unwind, liner or exposed adhesive presenting outwards, and any printed face oriented as the applicator expects. Send the station description, not only the width you want.
Individual protection follows three inputs, which are abrasion between neighbouring rolls, moisture on the lane, and whether the roll must reach a bonding step clean, so bags suit coated and foil-backed webs. Interleaving or slip sheets serve crepe and masking better than shrink.
A usable label carries the order reference, grade, size and length, quantity, weights, measurement, origin statement and lot code, with handling marks where the pack needs them and a layout your dock can scan. Barcode symbology and field positions are agreed before anything prints.
For orders converted here the code reaches four records, which are the incoming material batch, the adhesive or stock lot, the slitting date and the inspection record behind the shipment. That chain is what lets you quarantine two cartons instead of holding a container, as our quality page sets out.
It depends on how the goods are received, since a site racking loose cartons wants them loose and a centre with a de-stuff crew wants a unit load built to its own rack limits. Solid wood needs heat treatment and marking, while plywood or plastic avoids that question at the border.
Corrugated board softens as humidity rises and a tropical sea leg supplies plenty of it, sometimes with condensation on a container roof as temperatures swing, so the moisture barrier belongs at the sweating path rather than against a carton wall. A pallet also keeps the load off the floor.
Board is bought against a written purchase specification, and its strength figures come from the carton maker's declaration under the standard you name rather than from any description we could offer here. Tell us which standard your quality team works to and we hold the supplier to it.
Yes, and it is the most direct verification available: a pre-production pack is built to the agreed document and signed before the run, so orientation, interleave, count and label are reviewed on a physical object. A single sample roll of the tape can also be supplied, with the freight arrangement confirmed at enquiry.
Six items settle most of it, which are the roll format with length or outside diameter, the core your equipment accepts, the winding requirement, your carton weight cap, how goods are stored on arrival, and the label fields your scan reads. Those six decide the export packaging specification with very little further argument, and can be sent through our request a quote form for packaging-class grades listed on our masking and packaging tape page.
Commercial and process terms on this page are the questions a converter has to answer, not a standing offer. Order quantities, lead times, tooling charges, sample terms, freight and payment structures are confirmed at quotation against your drawing, your material and your destination, and only figures already published elsewhere on this site are stated as commitments.
