Ten questions on a private label supply program, answered by ownership rather than by promise: who holds the artwork, who signs the paper, and where an exclusivity clause actually reaches once your name is on the box.

Who owns the artwork on a private label tape?

You retain ownership of all brand artwork, core labels and carton graphics, and the converter uses those files only to produce the approved order under your program, keeping the signed proof on file for repeat runs. Your files are never reused for another customer.

In whose name are the compliance documents issued?

The signatory depends on the document and the destination market, so it is agreed per document at quotation rather than left open, because a datasafety sheet describes the grade we ordered while a declaration of conformity in your company name is a scoped arrangement. Confirm it before the branded run.

Can the converter reuse a formulation developed for our program?

A stock construction you simply selected stays available to other buyers, because putting your name on a standard grade does not make its chemistry exclusive to you, however the packaging or core label is printed. A build genuinely developed and funded for your program is where exclusivity belongs.

What does exclusivity cover in an OEM agreement?

An exclusivity clause itself is a negotiated boundary around a developed construction or multi-layer build rather than around a branded box, and it states what the converter will not offer to anyone else and for how long. Without that clause in writing, process knowledge stays with the converter.

If you put our brand on a third-party roll, is that authorized?

A house label does not manufacture an authorization that does not already exist, because we supply and convert third-party material with the scope confirmed per enquiry, brand, market and product family. Printing your trademark over another manufacturer's construction is a separate legal question from converting it.

Does our name on a standard tape make that construction exclusive?

No, a standard grade stays open to anyone who specifies it, because your own sticker transfers the presentation to you and not the underlying formulation or chemistry, however familiar the roll looks on the shelf. Exclusivity only attaches to something developed for your program rather than to a re-wrap.

How deep does batch traceability go on a branded complaint?

A single lot number resolves back to the incoming material, the adhesive batch, the slitting date and the inspection record, which is the evidence that lets a brand defend a claim printed on its own label with files rather than memory. Ask for a specimen trace pulled from a finished lot before the first run.

Which documents arrive with each branded shipment?

Material datasafety sheets, technical data sheets and, where required, a RoHS or REACH statement are issued for the exact grade ordered, so the paper always describes the goods that ship rather than a general category. A declaration naming your company is arranged in advance rather than improvised at the dock.

What happens if the source grade changes without telling us?

Your approved construction is a frozen baseline, so any change to the source film, coat weight or liner is raised as a formal change with a fresh re-approval against your drawing and use condition instead of being implemented quietly inside a routine re-order. That freeze is the protection a simple re-label cannot give you.

How much private label tape can we get for evaluation?

Roll stock can be supplied for a bench or line evaluation and prototype quantities of a developed construction are available before any production commitment, with production volumes and artwork agreed per part once the specification is signed. Sampling and production timing depends on material availability and route and is confirmed at quotation.

Commercial and process terms on this page are the questions a converter has to answer, not a standing offer. Order quantities, lead times, tooling charges, sample terms, freight and payment structures are confirmed at quotation against your drawing, your material and your destination, and only figures already published elsewhere on this site are stated as commitments.
